About Me
I grew up in northeast Iowa, surrounded by the beautiful bluffs along the Mississippi River, dairy farms, and colorful autumn foliage—not to mention the harsh winters! My career began with a B.A. in Education and a minor in Music from Luther College in Decorah, IA. (Go Vikings!) I earned a master’s degree in Reading/Language Arts from the University of Northern Iowa and taught at the elementary, secondary, and collegiate levels.
In 1996, I moved to Texas and continued teaching in both private and public schools. During this time, I earned a second master’s degree in School Counseling and completed coursework toward my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification. These 30+ years in education and counseling have led me to this honored space called Road To Hope Counseling.
At Road To Hope, I offer a safe therapeutic environment that builds on clients’ strengths. I work with adolescents and adults across many areas of need, with a particular passion for helping those experiencing grief and loss. I believe a sense of loss is central to many of life’s challenges, and I consider it an honor to support clients as they move from a place of loss to one of hope.
